May 2012 Studio Update

Forgot this was here.

Things have changed a bit. While initially this was here for my own personal use, it’s gone from “I am writing and recording an album” to “WE are writing and recording an album”.

This past week, my writing partner came through to visit. A lot of time was spent dicking around and catching up, but as the week closes we’re putting together a few new tracks and finishing up the remaining tracks. We also have a vocalist who is writing with us as we go.

So far, there are about 12 tracks from all the ideas that we’ve decided to put more focus on (most of the same ones from this post made the cut). In terms of melodic fragments, passages, and incomplete parts, there are over 40 (all in varying degrees of completeness and “worthiness” - ie, ‘that riff sucks but that other one is cool let’s use that’) still waiting to be harvested.

as the weeks go by, there will be a demo or two up on here.

DON’T GIVE UP ON ME YET

Green (Instrumental)

as an aside from the lack of progress, here is an instrumental demo I did last year with my old band (eris).

thinking about putting it on the album, not sure yet.

you can find all the old shit (which includes vocals) at http://www.soundcloud.com/erissound

more things coming.

Giving Birth To Growth (V.3)

opening track. last demo i’ll be posting for the LP, except maybe when i finally start tracking vocals.

i really like this one.

going to be adding: more intricate bass, better drumlines/fills, synths/pads, more of a “rising” intro, and fixing up the ass-end so it can bleed into the next track.
